Tesla Motors has already previously sent out the first batch of invitations to the unveiling of the Model 3, the highly-anticipated next electric vehicle by the company, with the date of the event set on March 31.
There is not much information known about the Model 3 yet, aside from the fact that it will boast a range of 200 miles within its small sedan package, and that the vehicle will be the one that Tesla will tout for the mass market. It is expected that the Model 3 will have a price tag of $35,000 before tax incentives, with Californians possibly to be given the ability to purchase the vehicle at only $9,500 after all the subsidies.
Media invitations have also now been sent out, which reveals more details for the March 31 event.
The upcoming event will happen in Hawthorne, California, in the Tesla Design Studio. The time of start is 7:00 p.m., and Tesla CEO Elon Musk will be taking the stage at 8:30 p.m. for his presentation.
Musk's time on stage can be watched through a live stream on the official website of Tesla, and the event is being described as an "intimate" one. In addition, it is also said that attendees will be given the chance to take the Model 3 out for a quick drive.
Musk previously said that he has not decided on how much of the vehicle will be shown at the event, as the Model 3 is not even expected to go into production until next year at the soonest. The invitation, however, hints that the whole car will be shown.
The day after the Model 3 is unveiled, interested customers will be able to send in their preorders for the electric vehicle through both Tesla's online store and physical outlets.
Tesla has so far focused on more expensive models, with the Model S and Model X coming with price tags that can go as high as over $100,000. The Model 3 will be Tesla's first foray into the mass market, and it is being tapped to cover the same price level as the Chevy Bolt electric car.
Also different from the previous Tesla electric vehicles is the fact that the Model 3 might be the first car by the company that will be shipping out on time. A tour of Tesla's Fremont, California factory revealed that the company is now using more advanced equipment for production, speeding up its manufacturing process.
