Uber For Food Launches Standalone UberEATS App And It's Expanding To A Dozen More Cities

Last December, Uber launched UberEATS, the company's standalone app for food delivery, and it is now available on Android and iOS.

Uber saw the need to create the new UberEATS app as the company believes the app deserves its own home. After all, requesting a ride and ordering a meal are not entirely the same. With the new app, users can find and order their favorite food and easily keep track of the service using their devices.

The app is initially available to users in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago and Toronto, where it will deliver food ordered from the customers' favorite local restaurants whatever time of the day and whatever day of the week.

UberEATS will also launch in more cities such as New York, Dallas, Austin, Atlanta, Seattle, Washington, Paris and Melbourne in the weeks ahead.

"UberEATS delivers food from your favorite local restaurants," says UberEATS on its official site. "With the new UberEATS app, you have access to a broader selection of restaurants and food. Now you can order from the full menus of your local favorites whenever you want, or get something immediately through our Instant Delivery menu of curated meals."

The app's food delivery service works with local restaurants in the city. The prepared food is continuously picked up by couriers who place the food in temperature-controlled bags before heading to busy areas. Customers can get food within a few minutes by just a tap.

"When you're ready to place your order you'll see an all-inclusive price - no need to worry about tips," said UberEATS. Pay with your Uber account and watch your order come right to you through the app. It's as smooth and reliable as getting a ride."

The app offers different meals with varying prices. Instant Delivery pricing options would usually range from $8 to $12.

The Instant Delivery feature has a curated menu that includes four to five daily specials. The feature promises to deliver food in less than 10 minutes. To ensure a smooth delivery, customers who are getting the Instant Delivery service are advised to step out the door of their home or office and meet the courier curbside.

UberEATS has partnered with restaurants such as Dinosaur BBQ, Dimes Deli, Tiny's Giant Sandwich Shop and The Brindle Room, and is also constantly seeking new partnerships. Restaurant owners are encouraged to join the service by simply filling out a form on the app's website.

"Matching you with the perfect meal is a complex endeavor," said Jason Droege, head of UberEVERYTHING. "With the launch of the UberEATS app, we're providing an experience completely tailored to food to help you get that perfect meal. In the same way Uber makes it easy to get from A to B, UberEATS makes it easy to get food from the best restaurants in your city. Because an Uber driver is never more than a few minutes away, as soon as the food's ready it's on its way."
