Stone Cold Steve Austin could very well be the most straight shooter World Wrestling Entertainment has ever seen, never holding his tongue for anyone or anything.
However, even the WWE Hall of Famer has had to check himself at times over the course of doing his podcast, The Steve Austin Show.
In an interview with Vince Russo for WrestlingInc., the Texas Rattlesnake said that, sometimes, he has to hold back to prevent himself from tearing apart a superstar too badly as part of the show.
"A lot of the time, I hold back because I'm one of the boys and I've got to show up every damn month for a podcast. It's not my goal to run anybody down [or] run anybody down that's in control," Austin said during the interview, as reported by WrestlingInc. "I love the [professional wrestling] business, but it is what it is. I have my opinion. Sometimes, believe me, I'm holding back when I'm talking about my opinions because I don't want to shoot a hole in anybody."
That being said, he's not going to hold back from honestly talking about how the company is portraying its product, as evidenced by the way WWE has sort of let Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt Family drop out of the main storylines, much to Austin's dismay, with him even calling it a "travesty" recently on his show.
"I think the WWE, they live in their own world. Make your own world," he continued telling Russo. "Have your own set of rules. Present it in a serious light."
Within that, Austin said that there are certain topics even off limits to him on the podcast.
"Sometimes, in talking, quite frankly, with WWE talent, you can't go certain directions," Austin continued. "There's a line that is drawn that you really can't cross over because they can't bury themselves [and] they can't talk about certain things, so, sometimes, it just is what it is."
Even if Austin is a bit constrained, he doesn't really show it during his podcast, bringing it to superstars live and direct, just as he did during his days as a performer for the company.
