After iFixit posted its Galaxy S7 teardown earlier this week, Samsung is now offering its own teardown for the flagship to better explain what's going on.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 is the company's latest flagship smartphone, and it's already stirring a great deal of interest. The smartphone packs top-notch specs and features all around, complemented by an intriguing cooling system designed to prevent the handset from overheating.
A recent teardown from YouTuber JerryRigEverything showed that the Galaxy S7's liquid cooling doesn't actually include any liquid, and Samsung now offers more details on the matter.
In its very own Galaxy S7 teardown, Samsung now offers a detailed breakdown of all components that make up its two new flagship smartphones. When it comes to the cooling heat pipe, iFixit noted that it consisted of a small copper twig. Samsung now explains that the pipe is designed to condense vapor to liquid so it can keep the temperature from rising.
This should come in handy, particularly when performing processor-intensive tasks such as gaming, as it would dissipate the heat with the help of the cooling pipe and a thermal spreader.
"In order to ensure the Galaxy S7 can handle even the toughest of processing loads — for example, from really graphics-intensive games — these new devices have added a cooling system, with a very thin thermal spreader," says Samsung.
The company also notes that it added a bracket so it would protect the Galaxy S7's components from shock and impact, allowing for a strong and sturdy phone without compromising its thin and sleek design.
Speaking of durability, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge also come with IP68 certification for dust and water resistance, and Samsung notes that it added an "exclusive type of water protective tape" on both the front and the rear glass of the handset casing.
"It takes the most cutting-edge engineering to get all of the innovations and functionality of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge into their streamlined, glass-and-metal bodies," Samsung further notes. "While adding water and dust resistance, a microSD card slot and other enhancements to its features, the Galaxy S7 has maintained its harmonious and refined design, in a light and compact form."
Both the Galaxy S7 and the curved-display Galaxy S7 Edge aim to compete at the high-end of the smartphone market, packing powerful specifications for top performance.
As a reminder, the new flagship smartphones boast Quad HD displays of 2,560x1,440 pixels, Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 processors (depending on region), 4 GB of RAM, 12-megapixel rear cameras, 5-megapixel front shooters, expandable storage of up to 200 GB via microSD and Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
The Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1-inch display and a 3,000 mAh battery, while the Galaxy S7 Edge features a 5.5-inch screen and a larger 3,600 mAh battery. Both models support wireless charging for more convenience.
