Facebook has been busy developing Messenger recently. This month, features that were added to the communications app include the integration of Spotify to allow users to share songs and playlists with their friends and the addition of ride requesting capabilities through Lyft. Requesting for rides through Lyft's rival ride-sharing service, Uber, is already a previously available feature in the app.
A leaked video, however, shows that Messenger is not only adding features, but it is also expanding to other platforms.
WindowsBlogItalia acquired a video and screenshots of Messenger for Windows 10, which is the first look at the app since Microsoft's announcement back in October 2015 that Facebook is creating universal Windows 10 apps for Facebook, Instagram and Messenger.
The Italian website also revealed the features list for the upcoming Messenger app on Windows 10, which includes notifications and live tile support. The app, like its versions on other platforms, will also allow users to send content such as pictures, videos and GIFs, along with everyone's favorite stickers. Users will be able to see when their friends have seen their messages, and will also be able to create groups.
The video, which is in Italian, walks the viewer through the features of the app, including logging and using the app to send messages to friends. Messenger on Windows 10 will have Italian as an option language, in addition to English and Spanish.
According to VentureBeat, Facebook confirmed the legitimacy of the leak, stating that the app is being tested with a small percentage of users in a few countries. However, the Facebook spokesperson that confirmed the Windows 10 Messenger leak added that the company does not have any additional details to share regarding the app.
There is not much else known about Messenger for Windows 10 aside from the leaked video and screenshots, though a likely date to debut the app would be the BUILD developer conference that will be held from March 30 to April 1.
Other things that Microsoft is expected to discuss at the upcoming conference include its future plans for Windows 10 apps and the official bridge for Apple's iOS.
