'XCOM 2' DLC Out On March 17: Anarchy's Children Features Tons Of Exotic Customization Options For Your Soldiers

Nothing makes the loss of an XCOM soldier more heartbreaking than giving that character the name of someone familiar, like a family member or a friend, or painstakingly putting personality into that fighter via the game's customization options. Well, XCOM 2's upcoming Anarchy's Children DLC will cater to the latter case.

When the Anarchy's Children update arrives on March 17, it won't be adding anything to the story. However, there will be plenty of new stuff to stick on soldiers.

"Anarchy's Children features over 100 new exotic customization options for your soldiers, including new hair styles, face paints, armor, lower face props, decals, helmets, masks and more," Firaxis says. "Your soldiers will strike fear into Advent and its alien overlords with menacing tactical styles that run the gamut from post-apocalyptic to the downright deranged."

The upcoming DLC is priced at $5, but that's already taken care of for those who purchased XCOM 2's $20 Reinforcement Pack. Firaxis warns that Reinforcement Pack owners who buy Anarchy's Children will be burned with an unnecessary charge.

Along with giving the game's a boost on the cosmetic side of things with the upcoming DLC, Firaxis is still tinkering under the hood to get XCOM 2 running as smoothly as everyone has hoped it'd run.

"Additionally, we're preparing a patch that will include performance optimizations and gameplay bug fixes," it says. "We will have more info to share on this very soon."

Coming up after Anarchy's Children and the performance patch is the final pair of DLC parts of the Reinforcement Pack: Alien Hunters and Shen's Last Gift, which are both due for arrival this summer.

The Alien Hunters DLC will bring more customization and a new mission. While Shen's Last Gift will take it a step further by adding a new class of soldier, more customization and a mission that'll be driven by narrative.

Fans of the series can expect more DLC to drop after that. Rest assured that the development of new content didn't begin before the game shipped, game director Jake Solomon asserted last December.

"We're not holding anything back," Solomon said. "We have a lot of content to make for DLC, but we won't start on it until we make the core game."
