The Academy Awards is over and now it's time for the 2016 MTV Movie Awards, wherein people can choose which among the blockbuster films are deserving to bring home the awards.
MTV finally released its list of nominees, and it is no surprise that the two biggest blockbuster record-breakers, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and "Deadpool," received the most number of nominations.
J.J. Abrams' "The Force Awakens" received a total of 11 nominations, while Tim Miller's "Deadpool" were nominated in eight categories. The two films are also pitted against each other in six of the categories they received nominations for, so it will be an interesting battle between the two favorites.
"Deadpool" was not nominated in the Best Hero category, but then again, even Deadpool might laugh about it since he is not exactly a "Hero," especially when facing the likes of Imperator Furiosa from "Mad Max: Fury Road," Captain America from "Avengers: Age of Ultron," Rey from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," Raymond Gaines from "San Andreas," Katniss Everdeen from "The Hunger Games- Mockingjay Part 2" and "Ant-Man."
However, the two films will face-off in a final battle with the "Movie of the Year" category, along with formidable contenders "Avengers: Age of Ultron," "Creed," "Jurassic World" and "Straight Outta Compton."
MTV also announced that beginning last Tuesday, fans can begin voting for their favorites at the MTV Movie Awards official site. Fans can even vote directly on Google for the "Movie of the Year" category by simply doing a Google search on the keyword "MTV Vote." It is now that simple to get your favorites closer to taking home the coveted golden popcorn.
Voting ends on March 20 so you better hop to it.
The MTV Movie Awards will be an outdoor ceremony to be held at the Warner Bros. Studio and will be hosted by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Kevin Hart.
