Someone Just Discovered A Whopping Continuity Error In 'Friends'

It looks like we have a shape-shifter on our hands — and no, it's not from the Harry Potter series, or the Twilight series, or another strange phenomenon found in the wilds of New Jersey.

Nope, our elusive creature isn't even a creature at all. It's a building. In the NBC sitcom Friends.

It seems that a reporter at the Mirror discovered a strange phenomenon that ran throughout all 10 seasons of the TV show that no one seemed to pick up on when it ran from 1994 to 2004: namely, that the kitchen window in Monica's apartment seemed to look out on a number of different vistas, despite staying in the exact same place, as apartments are wont to do.

Observe this screen grab from an episode of Friends' inaugural season.

As you can clearly see, the window is filled with light and completely unobstructed. There is a building in the distance, but it's clearly just that — in the distance.

Now, here's a grab from later on. Unless a tiny elf from Queens planted a magical seed in the lot next to the apartment, which somehow sprouted up into a magical gray building overnight, it looks like someone on the set design team thought no one was really paying attention — and until now, he or she was 100 percent correct.

Here's another shot from later on in the series: it looks like the magical apartment building grew itself some windows and morphed into a completely different color.

Now, it seems to have inched closer. Uncomfortably close. Maybe the Doctor was right about this one: "Don't blink. Don't even blink. Blink and you're dead."

In this photo, the building has now shed its bricks, turning a murky shade of blue.

The strange, shape-shifting building pics are courtesy of the Mirror (and a shoutout to BroBible for giving us the heads-up). Remember what the Doctor also says, especially if your name is Ross, Rachel, Monica, Joey, Chandler or Phoebe: "Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink. Good Luck."
