After more than a decade of explosions, shenanigans and science, three longtime members of Discovery Channel's "Mythbusters" team are going their separate ways.
Co-stars of the hit science show Kari Byron, Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara are leaving the series, with yesterday's Aug. 21 season finale being their last episode. Show stars Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman will be staying on board, though what the future of the show will exactly entail is unclear. The three team members leaving made up the show's M7 Build Team, and were often responsible for doing their own tests and myths separate from Savage and Hyneman.
Byron and Imahara took to Twitter to express their gratitude for fans of the show and hint at the reason for the departures. While it sounds like the M7 team was in fact laid off, they aren't publicly showing any hard feelings.
Savage and Hyneman released a video tribute to the three mythbusters, who have been a part of the show since season two, and also provided some explanation for the cast changes; "Mythbusters," they say, is going back to its roots.
"This next season we are going back to our origins, with just Adam and me," Hyneman says in the video.
Adam, in the video, also personally thanks the trio for their 10 years of service and 375 busted myths.
"You have literally given your blood, sweat and tears in the name of science and it has been a total pleasure not only to work with you but to call you our friends."
It isn't known what the three former Mythbusters will be doing next, or even whether they will be staying together, but fans of the show can only hope it will involve lots of explosions.
