Bugatti's Chiron Might Be The Most Thrilling Ride At The 2016 Geneva Motor Show

Over the next two weeks, the 2016 Geneva Motor Show will be home to some of the most thrilling rides around the world.

None may pack the kind of punch that the Bugatti Chiron does, though.

After some leaked shots hit the Internet in December, the Italian automaker lifted the curtains off its newest supercar Monday in an unveiling before journalists that will be hard to outdo by other car manufacturers at the international auto show.

With an absurd 8.0-liter, quad-turbo W16 engine, churning out a jaw-dropping 1,478 horsepower, this monster screams at a top speed of 261 miles per hour, hitting zero to 62 mph in less than 2.5 seconds — mind-bending speed. The company calls it "the most powerful, fastest, most luxurious and most exclusive production super sports car in the world."

The Chiron also supplants Bugatti's Veyron, which drove off into the supercar sunset during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

"The Chiron is the result of our efforts to make the best even better," Bugatti president Wolfgang Dürheimer said on the company's website Monday. "Bugatti has tested the limits of physics. There is no area where we have not achieved significant improvements."

Those improvements come with a stiff price in the form of $2.6 million, as only 500 Chirons will be put into production. Autoblog.com reports that Bugatti already has orders for 150 Chirons, spelling $390 million in new revenue.

Autoblog also reports that the Chiron is nearly 350 pounds heavier than the Bugatti Veyron at 4,400 pounds, still able to reach 124 mph in less than 6.5 seconds and 186 mph in 13.5 seconds — a rate that's three times faster than the original Veyron.

The Verge additionally reports that the new Chiron includes an "easy-to-drift" feature to further demonstrate its raw power and ability to rip the road.

Not that anyone would ever purchase a Bugatti for its trunk space, but for what it's worth, the supercar fits a generous-sized suitcase. Just because.

What about the audio? Bugatti told the Verge that the turbo-charged vehicle touts "the world's fastest concert hall" with diamonds embedded in the speakers.

Why not? If you're going to shell out $2.6 million, diamonds should come with the package, right?

Excess to the extreme.
