Rising Number Of Americans Opting For Butt Implants, Man Boob Reduction

The demand for plastic surgery continues to increase in the United States. The increasing trends for people to improve facial features and body parts improvement for aesthetic purposes have been popular among Americans. More people are opting for butt implants and male breast reduction, says a new report.

The annual report of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery's (ASAPS') demonstrate the continued growth in cosmetic surgery procedures over the last year, showing a shift of the types of procedures people have chosen. In the 2015 report, 15.9 million plastic surgeries, both intensive and minimally-invasive, were done in the United States, with a 2 percent increase from 2014.

Plastic Surgery Popular Among Both Men And Women

Both men and women are undergoing various cosmetic procedures. Surgical procedures increased by up to 7 percent (1,912,468 surgeries), nonsurgical procedures increased by 22 percent (10,879,909 surgeries) and combined procedures increased by 20 percent (12,792,377 procedures) compared to the procedures performed in 2014.

"Our survey findings paint a clear picture of a healthy aesthetic marketplace, with considerable growth among surgical and nonsurgical procedures alike," Dr. James Grotting, president of ASAPS states said.

"As techniques and technologies advance, patients have an even wider array of options from non-invasive to invasive, semi-permanent to permanent, and it appears that both doctors and patients are getting accustomed to tailoring procedures to individual patient needs with all of the options at their disposal," he added.

Men Join The Craze

Men are now opening their doors to aesthetic enhancements. The report says that more men are opting to undergo breast reduction, a procedure that removes excess fat in the breasts of people with gynecomastia. This condition happens when there is too much fat stored in the breasts of males.

In one year, the number of men choosing male breast reduction increased to 25 percent compared to the date gathered in 2014.

Latest Trends In Plastic Surgery

Women are problematic with fats being stored in the wrong places. A new procedure called fat grafting lets people choose a part of the body where they want their fat from undesirable places to be transferred. For instance, they want the fat in their love handles to be transferred to their breasts, face or buttocks. In 2015, about 50,000 people underwent this procedure.

Since the formulation for Botox injectables was improved, more people opt for this procedure to reduce wrinkles caused by aging. In 2015, the number of procedures increased by 21 percent.

People who wanted to improve the appearance of their buttocks in 2015 increased as well, with 32 percent increase in buttock lifts and buttock implants performed compared from 2014. Other popular trends are nonsurgical skin tightening, tattoo or hair removal and liposuction.
