Kesha Tweets Original Thank You Song, Supporters Protest Sony And Dr. Luke’s Mom Speaks Out

The battle between pop star Kesha and her former producer and accused rapist and abuser Dr. Luke continues to play out on social media. Kesha has recorded a brief thank you song posted on Twitter by her lawyer to thank fans for all their support while Dr. Luke's mother has spoken out to defend her son.

The outpouring of support for Kesha continued as Adele publicly expressed her support for the singer when accepting one of her several Brit Awards at the big ceremony this week. Lady Gaga also posted a video of Kesha supporters protesting at Sony headquarters in New York City. About 40 chanting protesters demanded that the company release Kesha from her recording contract, although a mix-up caused them to shout their message to deaf ears for over an hour until they realized that they were in the wrong location.

Sony had moved its executive offices over a mile away from their former home in Manhattan, so the protesters ultimately reconvened in front of the proper spot.

Sony spokesman and attorney Scott A. Edelman issued a statement claiming "Sony has made it possible for Kesha to record without any connection, involvement or interaction with Luke whatsoever, but Sony is not in a position to terminate the contractual relationship between Luke and Kesha. Sony is doing everything it can to support the artist in these circumstances, but is legally unable to terminate the contract to which it is not a party." Kesha's contract is with Dr. Luke's record label Kemosabe, a subsidiary of Sony.

Kesha has reached out in song to her supporters via her attorney Mark Geragos, who released a snippet of a thank you tune to her fans via his Twitter account. In the clip, which Geragos tweeted, Kesha emotionally delivers the words "I don't know what I would do without you, I don't know where I would be without you" sung to a melancholy melody.

Meanwhile, Dr. Luke's mother has joined the fray, defending her son and claiming that Kesha is blackmailing him.

"She threatened to do it and she did it. It's all lies," says the producer's mom.
