Twitter is primed and ready for the 88th Annual Academy Awards this Sunday night.
After already being lit up with talk about film premieres, Oscar nominations and the movies themselves, the social media network has set its sights on award contenders across leading categories, measuring them by tweets and representing them on a newly launched embeddable, interactive map.
To assemble this map, Twitter gauged the number of tweets for each nominee, presenting the clear front-runners within fans' conversations as well as fan favorites varying from state to state.
Take a closer look:
The colors on the interactive map represent state-by-state nominees across Oscar categories ranging from Best Picture, Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress and animated film. There's a color-coated key under Rankings and Comparison, which tell Twitter users what colors represent each movie, actor or actress nominated.
So, let's take a closer look at the Best Actress category. Jennifer Lawrence is the unprecedented, unanimous "Most Talked About" nominee across the country in tweeted national conversations to win the award, with fans clearly thinking she'll edge the likes of Cate Blanchett, Brie Larson, Charlotte Rampling and Saoirse Ronan.
The Best Actor category is almost as unanimous, with Leonardo DiCaprio being the "Most Talked About" to win the award in 49 of the 50 states, except for Vermont, which tweeted most about Matt Damon in The Martian.
And the "Most Talked About" movie? Mad Max: Fury Road, which dominated the national conversations on Twitter, being the most dominant in 46 states, with the other four seemingly more impressed with The Martian.

As part of the Oscars' experience, Twitter has also launched an Academy Award statue emoji, which can be unlocked by tweeting the hashtag #Oscars. The same hashtag, and also #onetake, can be used on Periscope to transform one of every five hearts into a bag of popcorn.
And that's just part of the Periscope activity that Twitter is planning.
"New this year, movie buffs will also be able to relive moments from the Best Picture movies — with a twist," Twitter wrote in its blog post Friday. "On Periscope, you can see interpretations of your favorite scenes from the Best Picture nominees with members of the Periscope community re-enacting them during commercial breaks. Be sure to join in on the fun by tuning in to the broadcasts with the hashtag #onetake(which will also trigger the special Periscope heart)."
