Now boasting a black bow tie, the Rally editions of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado LT trucks deliver a new attitude to the series and standardizes several options generally added by consumers in the past with no second thought, General Motors asserts.
Cheverolet will offer two rally packages for its Silverado line, Rally 1 and Rally 2. In both rally packages, the gold Chevorlet bow tie on the trucks' grills have been changed to black and rally stripes have been painted on the top of the truck, from hood to gate.
"Silverado won more awards in 2014 than any other pickup, including North American Truck of the Year," said John Fitzpatrick, Silverado senior marketing manager. "The Rally Edition packages will let customers add an aggressive new look to this great all-around performer."
In the Rally 2 package, which its standardizes options General Motors said customers usually add,the 17-inch wheels from the base Silverado LT have been painted black and scaled up to 22 inches. The package will include a trailer hitch that has a locking rear differential.
Inside of Rally 2 editions of the LT, the vehicle's interiors have been split into two climate control zones. Drivers have the aid of backup cameras, remote start, rear defrosters and an eight-inch console that has will serve as a WiFi hotspot for 4G LTE.
Under the hood, the LT's 4.3-Liter, V-6 EcoTec3 engine remains unchanged in Rally 2 editions. However, the 5.6-liter, V-8 version of the engine will still be offered as an option for the Rally 2 edition of the LT.
The Rally 1 package offers the black bow tie on body-colored grills and the black accents will extend to door handles and mirror caps. Rally 1 editions will roll around on 17-inch aluminum wheels and will include a trailer hitch that has a locking rear differential.
The Rally 1 edition also includes a back-up camera and rear window defroster.
While General Motors had a hot July 2014, in terms of sales, its recall rates didn't level cool down. The Chevrolet Silverado LD, model years 2014 and 2015, were among the hundreds of thousands of vehicles the automaker recalled near the end of July.
Announcing six unrelated recalls in a July 2014 campaign, General Motors called back 717,949 vehicles for problems that ranged from power steering woes to seating defects. The largest of the six recalls called back 414,333 vehicles.
