Late last summer, reports surfaced about Ford contemplating a return for its Bronco SUV.
The Ford Bronco debuted in 1966 and was discontinued in 1996 — two years after O.J. Simpson used the vehicle in a 1994 low-speed highway chase, paving the way for the "Trial of The Century."
With the automaker having promised four new SUVs by 2020, rumored reports continue to grow that one of them could be the return of the Bronco.
Well, fans aren't wasting time, letting Ford know how they feel about that, giving the automaker a little extra prodding along the way.
The Bronco6G fan forum took the liberty Wednesday of releasing a design rendering of the 2020 Bronco ... and let's just say, Ford might want to give this a serious look and possibly even take design cues.
Big, bold and roaring, there's not much to not like about this design rendering, as a design like this would immediately make the Bronco's return and presence felt in the SUV market.
The dedicated fan forum explained what it was going for and trying to accomplish with its design, as well.
"We fused styling elements from previous Bronco generations, the 2004 Bronco concept, and modern Ford trucks and SUVs," the Bronco6G post explained about the rendering. "You can see the classic round headlights and square inset front grille evolved from the 1st-gen Bronco, which was also showcased in the retro-futuristic 2004 Bronco concept. Our concept features a modern body on frame next-generation Bronco that retains a tall, boxy, tough, no-frills design with a strong focus on utility and off-road capabilities. We fitted separate versions with different grilles, wheel fender shapes, varying ride heights, and cargo rack for some different looks."
By Thursday morning, the design rendering had gone viral, turning up on Facebook's news feed as one of the more popular news items.
Wouldn't it be special if Ford gives the fans what they want with a new Bronco by actually considering some of these design cues?
If so, the vehicle could go a long way in shedding its notorious history and link with Simpson, driving into the future with one of the boldest looks on an SUV that auto enthusiasts have seen in a while.
