Feb. 25 marks the 200th episode of "The Big Bang Theory" and Pasadena, the city where the TV series is set in, is commemorating the milestone by declaring the date as "The Big Bang Theory" Day.
The City of Pasadena took to Twitter to make the announcement, completing the celebration with some cake.
"Even though we tape the show just down the road at Warner Bros., we're honored that the city of Pasadena ... has once again proved itself to be a true inspiration," said Bill Prady, Steven Molaro and Chuck Lorre in a joint statement.
The cast of "The Big Bang Theory" graced the announcement Saturday night. Lorre, Molaro and Prady were joined by Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Kunal Nayyar, Simon Helberg, Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik.
Andy Wilson, a member of the Pasadena Council, made the announcement on behalf of Mayor Terry Tornek, stating that "The Big Bang Theory" has drawn national and international attention to the city as it is currently the No. 1 comedy series and No. 2 among the most popular series on TV.
"'The Big Bang Theory' [has] portrayed the City of Pasadena as not only a city of advanced education and pop culture sophistication," it said on the proclamation. The occasional "Bazinga!" was also recognized.
The 200th episode will be titled "The Celebration Experimentation" and will feature Wil Wheaton, Sara Gilbert, Christine Baranski and Adam West as special guests. The episode will see Sheldon Cooper finally celebrating his birthday like any other normal person after his friends convinced him to do so.
"The Big Bang Theory" premiered Sept. 24, 2007 in CBS. Over the years, it has been given many awards, including the Primetime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series" for Jim Parsons for 2011, 2013 and 2014 and the People's Choice Award for "Favorite Network TV Comedy" from 2013 to 2016. The TV series has also received nominations from the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Television Awards.
