Archos Preparing High-End Oxygen Tablets For MWC 2016: What To Expect

Archos has a new line of high-end Oxygen tablets ready to debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 and the new products already sound exciting.

After releasing the ultra-secure GranitePhone back in 2015, Archos rose to prominence and its products now stir even more interest than before. Gearing up for the upcoming MWC 2016, the company is now teasing its announcements for the show and some powerful Oxygen slates are in the cards.

According to Archos, its new Oxygen tablet series comprises of three high-end Android tablets that boast top-notch specs and features, wrapped up in a sleek metal design with aluminum rear casing.

"The company's new high-end Oxygen products, powered by great new technologies, will empower our customers to choose reasonably priced, quality products," says Loic Poirier, the CEO of Archos. "We are proud to be one of the forerunners in the portable technology market, but we also continually put ourselves into question and perpetually aim to provide innovative, robustly specked and aesthetically beautiful products and that is what we have done with the Oxygen tablets."

The new Oxygen tablets from Archos come in three sizes to cover different tastes and preferences. The smallest slate features a 7-inch display, the second sports an 8-inch screen, while the third rocks a larger 10.1-inch panel.

Other than the different screen sizes, all three Oxygen tablets look virtually the same and have nearly identical features. Archos equipped the slates with Full HD IPS displays (1080p), quad-core 1.3GHz MTK8163 A53-generation processors, Mali 720 MP2 graphics and 2 GB of RAM. Other specs include 16 GB of built-in storage space, 5-megapixel rear cameras with LED flash and autofocus and 2-megapixel front-facing shooters.

As expected, the three slates have different battery units to power their respective displays. The 7-inch Archos 70 Oxygen features a 3,000 mAh battery, the 8-inch Archos 80 Oxygen packs a 4,500 mAh battery, while the 10.1-inch Archos 101b Oxygen tablet draws power from a massive 6,000 mAh battery.

On the software side, all three slates rock Android 6.0 Marshmallow straight out of the box, with all of the neat features that come with the new OS.

When it comes to pricing, the Archos 70 will cost £75 (roughly $107), the Archos 80 will retail for £99.99 (about $143), while the Archos 101b will go up to £119 (about $170). The new Android tablets are set to hit the market in May.
