You Can Now Preorder Sony's New Line Of 4K HDR UHD TVs Powered By Android (They Don't Come Cheap)

Sony has started taking preorders for its newest lineup of 4K HDR Ultra HD TVs that run on Android operating system.

The Japanese electronics company showcased three new 4K HDR UHD TVs at the CES in January this year. The XBR-940D, XBR-X930D and XBR-X850D all feature the company's 4K Processor X1 engine and TRILUMINOS display and the capability of displaying HDR content.

"This new lineup of 4K HDR Ultra HD televisions is proof of our continuing commitment to deliver a premium 4K HDR experience to our customers. With the development of 4K HDR shooting, editing, recording, storage, playback, transmission and display technologies, Sony understands 4K HDR like no other company," says Sunil Nayyar, the director of Product Marketing, TV and Projectors of Sony's U.S. unit.

Nayyar says that the latest lineup of Sony TVs offer superior picture quality for all content, enhancing the viewing experience while displaying HDR and 4K content. On Tuesday, Sony confirmed that these TVs are now ready for preorder.

Here are the prices of the TVs.

The X940D series and the X930D series benefit from full-array backlighting, which uses Sony's Slim Backlight Drive with an exclusive "grid array local dimming and boosting backlighting structure" for distributing the backlight source accurately to specific regions of the TV screen.

Sony has not just focused on the screen of the TVs. The company has also paid a lot of attention to the design of the TVs. Sony has used an ultrathin design for the X940D and X930D line. Customers can hang the X930D TV on the wall with the optional wall mount, which leaves a gap of 3.7cm, or about 1.5 inches, between the wall and the screen. These TVs also look great on a cabinet or a stand.

The new Sony TVs support Android TV operating system, which makes it easier to watch and stream online content. TV lovers have the option to watch popular movies and shows via Google Play, YouTube, Amazon, Hulu, Netflix and more.

Owners of these TVs will be able to access a wide selection of apps and games from the Google Play store straight on the TV.

According to Sony, the latest lineup of 4K HDR UHD TVs is available for pre-sale and will hit the shelves in early March this year. Customers will be able to buy the TVs from Best Buy, Amazon and Sony's authorized dealers in the United States.
