The 58th Grammy Awards was spectacular as always and all the nominees deserve the spotlight, since they worked tirelessly the past year for their records to grab the attention and hearts of the listeners. Grammys 2016 is also historic, in a sense, because of the wide range of both nominated talents and those who performed on stage.
One of the more historic wins belongs to Taylor Swift, who won her second Grammy for the category "Album of the Year." Thanks to "1989" she's officially the first female artist to win in the said category twice.
"Someday, when you get where you're going, you'll know that it was you and the people who love you that put you there. That will be the greatest feeling in the world," Swift said when she accepted her award.
"Bad Blood" collaborators also won big in the 58th Grammy Awards, when it was announced as the "Best Music Video." Individually, Swift also won the "Best Pop Vocal Album" category.
The biggest winner in terms of number of Grammys received, however, is Kendrick Lamar, who won five out of the 11 categories he is nominated in. Incidentally, he broke the record for most number of Grammy nominations in a single night, which was previously held by Eminem.
Lamar swept the rap category, winning "Best Rap Performance," "Best Rap/Sung Collaboration," "Best Rap Song" and "Best Rap Album."
"Thinking Out Loud" became one of the most played songs at weddings. Thanks to this song, Ed Sheeran finally received his first Grammy Award. He particularly won in two categories, namely "Best Pop Solo Performance" and "Song Of The Year," which he shared with co-writer Amy Wadge.
"Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars won "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance," "Record of the Year" and "Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical."
Skrillex and Diplo won two awards - one is "Best Dance/Electronic Album" for "Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack Ü," and the other is "Best Dance Recording" for "Where Are Ü Now" with Justin Bieber.
Some of the other winners are as follows:
Best New Artist: Meghan Trainor
Musical Theater Album: "Hamilton"
Country Album: "Traveller" by Chris Stapleton
Rock Performance: Alabama Shakes for "Don't Wanna Fight"
Traditional Pop Vocal Album: Tony Bennett & Bill Charlap for "The Silver Lining: The Songs of Jerome Kern"
