Xiaomi Mi 5 Camera Sample Teases 'Incredible Details' In HDR: Hugo Barra

The hype surrounding the highly anticipated Xiaomi Mi 5 is building up and a company executive adds fuel to the fire, teasing the smartphone's camera prowess.

We're less than two weeks away from the official Xiaomi Mi 5 launch on Feb. 24 and Xiaomi is further boosting excitement ahead of the big event. Ex-Googler and current Xiaomi vice president Hugo Barra posted a new teaser to show off the HDR capabilities of the smartphone's camera, and it looks pretty good.

Hugo Barra took to his Facebook account to tease the "insanely AMAZING" Mi 5 camera, posting an image sample to prove that the smartphone can take high-quality photos.

"I didn't even have to fiddle with manual settings or adjust anything - except turn on HDR - this is a pure SOOC shot," says the executive. "I've cropped and zoomed in on the original, too, just so you can see the incredible details up close."

Posting the Xiaomi Mi 5 camera sample photo on Facebook resulted in some compression, but Barra also posted a full-resolution version of the image on the MIUI forum.

The photo was taken in sunlight and may seem a bit oversaturated to some, but the samples are nonetheless quite promising.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to boast powerful specs and features all around, coming at the high-end segment of the smartphone market. Based on information surfaced so far, the handset will sport a 5.2-inch or larger display with a QHD resolution (2,560 x 1,440 pixels), a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, a 16-megapixel rear camera, a 13-megapixel selfie cam and a 3,030 mAh battery.

One version of the Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to feature 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage space, while another variant should come with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of locker space.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 has been highly anticipated for quite a good while now, but speculations suggested that it was delayed so it could pack Qualcomm's latest processor.

It remains to be seen which of the abovementioned specs will turn out to be accurate, but one thing's for sure: the HDR camera capabilities can score some pretty good shots.
