The existence of extraterrestrial beings does not fail to elicit debate but believers of aliens visiting Earth from outer space apparently have the upper hand this time as claims of a UFO hovering over Houston were apparently backed up with some "evidence".
Claims of people witnessing what is believed to be an aliencraft floating over Houston on a stormy night were supported by images that were shared on social media. The pictures, which were taken on Aug. 11 and were posted on Twitter, show a circular object that appears to hover in the sky.
As the photos of what some believe to be a UFO attract attention from people all over the globe, a new video that captured the mysterious thing emerged. The video, which was taken by Andrew Pena, a musician based in Houston, from a moving car, shows bright lights in the sky as he drove at past 8 in the evening. The bright lights appear that go in and out in what seems to be a light show.
Some, however, were skeptical of the images that were posted on Twitter. A man from the U.K claimed that the photos could have been edited because they have two different qualities of pixilation. Some also believe that the object may just be an unmanned drone with blinking lights.
UFO experts are also doubtful of the unidentified object being an alien-made spacecraft. Fletcher Gray, a UFO sighting expert from the Texas chapter of Mutual UFO Network, or MUFON, a not for profit organization dedicated to investigating cases of alleged sightings of UFO, said that the circle of lights shown in Pena's video may just be the reflection of highway lights since the footage was taken through a car window.
"It's no more than light trapped in the side window," Gray said.
Carolyn Sumners, the Vice President for Astronomy at the Houston Museum of Natural Science in Texas who investigates UFOs, said that it is possible that the bad weather may have something to do with the images. Although Sumners also finds it possible that the images are that of an unidentified flying object, she said that it requires further investigations to determine the mysterious object's real identity.
"I think the trick in UFO's is figuring out what else they could be," Sumners said. "It's easy to say that could be the aliens."
