While they aren't the games that leaked last weekend, a new batch of Xbox 360 titles are now playable on Xbox One thanks to the console's backwards compatibility.
Joining the list of more than 100 backwards compatible games are LEGO Batman, Trials HD, Sam and Max: Beyond Time and Space and the Alan Wake spinoff, Alan Wake: American Nightmare. Microsoft has also announced that the original Alan Wake will be going backwards compatible alongside the release of Quantum Break in April.
Many fans assumed that Red Dead Redemption, Left 4 Dead 2, Halo Wars, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night would be among the next batch of backwards compatible titles after versions of the games working on Xbox One leaked last week, but they don't appear to be ready just yet.
With no Red Dead Redemption, Microsoft still has yet to add the top three most-requested games for backwards compatibility. Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim sit at the top of the list, with Red Dead Redemption coming in at number three. This likely has less to do with Microsoft and more with the publishers of the games, as Microsoft needs their permission to move forward.
If Activision or Bethesda plan on releasing updated versions of both popular games on the new consoles, they likely wouldn't be interested in allowing Microsoft to make them backwards compatible.
We'll have to wait and see what free games come next, but Microsoft recently overhauled how it is dealing with releasing the backwards compatible games. Rather than releasing a batch every month, Microsoft now releases the titles once they become available, which should mean more frequent updates.
