The upcoming Batman #50 from DC Comics has gained an additional eight pages, bringing the total from 48 to 56.
Why the addition? Well, #50 is set to be something of a milestone.
See, a recent storyline in the comics had Bruce Wayne ditch the cowl after losing his memories. Rather than force Wayne to recall the more tragic bits of his life, Jim Gordon took on the role of Batman. However, Gordon’s fight with villain Mr. Bloom sees Wayne become Batman once again in Batman #50 after an extremely dangerous procedure at the end of the previous issue.
The extra eight pages are an epilogue to the issue — and likely the arc — with words by Scott Snyder and art by Yanick Paquette. The rest of the story is by Snyder, Greg Capullo and Danny Miki, so the epilogue should have a distinct look to it. It also means the issue’s bumped up from $4.99 to $5.99.
Here’s how DC describes the issue, which concludes the ongoing story arc:
Batman has returned to Gotham City! In this extra-sized conclusion to Snyder and Capullo’s epic story “Superheavy,” Bruce Wayne returns to the cape and cowl to battle Mr. Bloom alongside Jim Gordon for the fate of the city they both love.
Batman #50 is currently scheduled to release on March 23, 2016.
