Game of Thrones may be the dominant sword and sorcery show on television, but when it comes to fantasy in the realm of video games, CD Projekt Red's Witcher series, specifically Witcher 3, is currently the top dog.
It's easy to see how HBO could adapt the series. Like Game of Thrones, The Witcher is sexy, gritty and real in a way that most fantasy isn't. One Redditor has taken it upon themselves to dream about what actors and actresses they would love to see in a Witcher show, and we can't argue with their spot on picks.
You can see the full image below. User AngryRedditorsbelow pegs Mads Mikkelsen as Geralt, Emma Watson as Ciri, Eva Green as Yennefer, Mark Addy as the Bloody Baron, Emma Stone as Triss and last but not least, Jeff Bridges as Vesimir.
It's one heck of a line-up, and while we like the majority of the picks, we would likely swap out a few. Emma Watson doesn't seem quite right for Ciri, for example. Mark Addy would work great as the Bloody Baron, but might we suggest John Goodman as well? As for Eva Green, Jeff Bridges and Emma Stone, you wouldn't see us complaining if they all appeared on screen together.
Though this dream casting is for a HBO show, it was announced last year that a Witcher movie is being planned. This cast (or our proposed substitutions) would be a perfect fit, even if the movie looks to be adapting Andrzej Sapkowski's short stories instead of the game series. The plan is for the first film to serve as an introduction to Geralt's fantasy world before becoming a full-blown film franchise. The movie is looking for a 2017 release, so it will still be a while before we likely hear anything new on that front. In the meantime, fans can keep on dreaming.
