'Sentinels of the Multiverse' Returns To Kickstarter For One Final Expansion

The folks at Greater Than Games have returned to the well, so to speak, and started a Kickstarter campaign for the final expansion to the popular board game Sentinels of the Multiverse.

Though the company had previously said it wouldn’t return to the crowdfunding platform for future Sentinels products, it ultimately decided to do so for the final expansion — Sentinels of the Multiverse: OblivAeon — because its own preordering system had its fair share of problems previously and because it felt like a nice capstone to the game given the original set was funded via Kickstarter back in 2011.

The new expansion features the culmination of several different storylines, with reformed villains stepping up to help stop a menace of Multiverse-level proportions. That means new heroes (most of which are villains playing good) for players. However, a big part of the new campaign is also the promotional hero card pack.

See, ever since first demoing the game at Gen Con 2011, Greater Than Games has steadily been releasing promotional cards for Sentinels that give certain heroes new powers and artwork. Often, these have been attached to preorder campaigns, but not always. Anyone who’s come to it after the fact is out of luck, as they are often expensive on the secondary market.

No longer! While the original cards might still be in demand, the company’s set to print a set of new promotional cards — including new artwork — of all the old ones in a single pack that will be available to purchase afterward. That’s assuming all goes well with production — which has so far been the case in the past for Greater Than Games, for the most part.

The Kickstarter campaign for Sentinels of the Multiverse: OblivAeon is set to end on March 11, and as of this writing, the campaign’s already blown far past the initial goal of $40,000 to settle at just over $363,000.
