Apple has issued an update for its mail client program in OS X Mavericks to fix a number of outstanding bugs that have affected many users.
Apple announced its latest operating system OS X Mavericks at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June this year. On October 22. The company also announced that OS X Mavericks will be available for free and will work on Mac computers dating back to 2007.
Many Mac users have installed the latest OS X after the company announced it will be available as a free download. However, many users reported issues with the Mail e-mail client on the operating system specifically linked to managing messages in Gmail accounts.
"I have installed Mavericks on my MBA. Now in the mail app, when I drag messages from the inbox to a gmail folder, they leave the inbox. But if I click off of the inbox and then click back on it - they reappear in the inbox. Anyone else having this problem?" complained a user on Apple Support Communities.
"I, too, am having this problem with a gmail account from Google Apps. I filed a bug ticket this morning with Apple. Hopefully a fix can come soon because this is terribly disruptive. For the time being I'm using my iPad to file mail from my gmail account as the Mail client in iOS works just fine," reported another user on Apple Support Communities.
However, the company has now taken steps to address the issues. Apple confirmed in a changelog that the latest Mail update for Mavericks includes improvements to general stability and compatibility with Gmail. The update fixes an issue that prevents users from deleting, moving and archiving messages for users with custom Gmail settings.
The latest update also addresses an issue that may cause unread message counts to be inaccurate.
The update size is 32.46 MB and is available for download from the Apple support page.
