Humble Bundle might not be humble for long if it continues expanding like this.
After growing its monthly independent games subscription service to 70,000 subscribers, the company is funding its own small titles, as reported by Destructoid.com.
The first of its offerings, which will be called Humble Originals and made available through its Humble Monthly subscription service, is called Elephant in the Room. The Mighty Rabbit Studios title is included for members of the service's monthly program as part of its February offer, with other small titles to follow in subsequent months.
Although the $12 per month service has gamers getting surprised with titles at random, at least they'll know from here on out that the Humble Monthly plan will carry one Humble Original.
It's yet another way to lure in customers in an attempt to expand its subscription service and grow its fanbase, as it has already demonstrated the ability to do with its 70,000-plus-and-counting subscribers.
"There was a fair amount of churn for the very first month in November," Humble Bundle co-founder John Graham told Destructoid via email about the company's growing pains with the service. "Because consumers have to prepay for their monthly bundle without knowing what games lie in store, I think the first month had a bit of friction where some customer expectations diverged from what we were actually planning for our product."
He added: "Now that Humble Monthly has been out for a few months and we can showcase the awesome content from past Monthly Bundles, I think we are hitting our stride and it's become way easier to make customers comfortable."
