Mnet America, a television network and provided for “Asian American entertainment programming,” is set to air the first and second season of the Love Live! School Idol Project anime starting tonight — dubbed with its new English cast.
The show follows a group of girls as they become idols in order to save their school from shutting down. The two seasons essentially chronicle their rise to stardom, and there’s also a movie based on the series that caps the whole thing off. Plus, there's of course, manga, video games and other related merchandise. Really, Love Live! is perhaps better described as a multimedia brand.
Mnet America, for what it’s worth, announced the airing of the English dub just today, which is … odd, to say the least. There’s a better-than-good chance that only diehard fans will be prepared to watch it on such short notice when it begins airing tonight at 9 p.m. EST on the channel (that’s assuming they get the channel at all, which is not available everywhere but is attached to the likes of Time Warner Cable, Comcast and Verizon FiOS in some markets).
The full English cast is as follows:
Marieve Herington as Honoka Kosaka
Erica Lindbeck as Eli Ayase
Cristina Vee as Kotori Minami
Kira Buckland as Umi Sonoda
Faye Mata as Rin Hoshizora
Caitlin Glass as Maki Nishikino
Laura Post as Nozomi Tojo
Xanthe Huynh as Hanayo Koizumi
Erica Mendez as Nico Yazawa
