Kylo Home With Vader: Florida Cop Adopts Puppy After Routine Call To Animal Shelter

Kylo is finally home with Vader but it's not what you think. Kylo the puppy found a new home with a cop from the Fort Walton Beach Police Department in Florida after he made a routine call to Panhandle Animal Welfare Society.

According to reports, Officer Marcus Montgomery visited the shelter on Jan. 26 regarding a former employee when he first laid eyes on the puppy and it did not take him long to decide to bring the little guy home, especially after hearing its back story.

“As I began to wrap up my conversation with [the director], the supervisor came back into the office with Kylo in her hand. As soon as I saw him, I said ‘don't bring him in here or else I will take him home right now,’” Montgomery told ABC News.

The shelter told him that the puppy was left in a box behind their building during a time when the outside weather was 30 below on average. Thinking about the young dog being alone, cold, and confused in a little box tugged the officer's heartstrings and compelled him to give him a loving home he deserved.

Although Montgomery initially thought he was too busy to take in another pet and he already had a dog at home, named Vader, whom he adopted from the shelter, he spoke with his girlfriend, Kristen Hope Martin, and they decided that taking the puppy home would be the right thing to do.

Keeping with the "Star Wars" puppy theme, the pup has been named Kylo and was taken to meet Vader in his new forever home on Jan. 28.

PAWS has posted photos of the happy cop and his puppy Kylo which has since gone viral.
