Here's What's New In 'Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD'

Link's Nintendo GameCube and Wii adventure is getting the HD treatment for its re-release on the Wii U, but this new and improved version of Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is far more than a visual upgrade.

Nintendo is spilling some details on all that will be new, and it looks like there will be a little something for everybody. For those who have previously played the game, they can kick up to the difficulty in the new Hero mode. In this mode, Link will take double-damage from all attacks, which is made even worse by the fact that hearts won't drop, either. Make sure you have some potions handy.

New players will find a number of other additions seamlessly blended into the core game. A new dungeon can be unlocked using the Wolf Link Amiibo that comes bundled with physical editions of the game for a limited time. Other Legend of Zelda Amiibo (like Link, Ganondorf, Zelda and Toon Link from the Super Smash Bros. line of Amiibo) will also work in the game, though Nintendo hasn't yet detailed what each figure will unlock.

Nintendo has also added a new item to the game in the form of the ghost lantern. This lantern glows when it's near a Poe ghost, which should make one of the game's side-quests far less frustrating.

Of course, the game is also being remade with full Wii U gamepad support, including the ability to play only on the GamePad. It's nice to see Nintendo is putting some real effort into its HD re-release, which should make it one of the more sought after Wii U games in the first half of this year. You can check out a trailer for some of the new features below.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD releases for the Wii U on March 4.
