Taylor Swift Launching Mobile Game With Same Company As Kim Kardashian And 'Bad Blood' Rival Katy Perry

Taylor Swift is planning to launch a mobile game later this year. The pop star will collaborate with Glu Mobile to develop a new gaming platform for the artist that will debut globally in late 2016.

It looks as if we can soon add another platform to Taylor Swift's ever growing repertoire of digital successes. The singing star has announced an exclusive partnership with Glu Mobile to develop a free-to-play game, which is just about as close to a sure-fire hit as could be expected from any celebrity, given Swift's extensive social media presence.

Swift has racked up a whopping 74 million Facebook fans, along with 70.4 million Twitter followers. She has also amassed 64.8 million Instagram followers and another 18 million on music video imprint Vevo. Swift held the record for most first day views of a music video on Vevo for her 2015 single "Bad Blood," which featured her celebrity friends including Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Ellie Goulding, Cara Delevingne and Lena Dunham. That record held until recently, when Adele smashed it with 27.7 million views for her comeback single "Hello."

Swift has totaled an impressive 130 million global song downloads and 40 million album sales, and her most recent long player, 1989, is up for the 2016 album of the year Grammy, one of seven nominations the singer has received.

Glu Mobile has already achieved enormous success with celebrity games. Its first partnership in the field, with Kim Kardashian, has been a huge hit, earning $43 million in only its first three months of release. The company has also done well with another pop star game, its partnership with singer Katy Perry, who was once good friends with Swift but fell out with her, and is famously the subject of the "Bad Blood" song and video.

Glu is promising to introduce brand-new gaming features for the Swift collaboration.

"We realize that Taylor and her global fan base expect a new and highly differentiated mobile gaming experience," said Glu Mobile's CEO Niccolo de Masi.

"Glu is equally committed to designing never before seen gameplay elements that utilize Taylor's unique creativity. Accordingly, we will spend the required development time to ensure this innovation is achieved."
