The chronological comments on YouTube have become history as the video sharing site overhauled the comments feature on videos by taking help of Google+.
The new comment system is designed to avoid trolls and focus more on quality comments. YouTube said that the changes will start appearing from this week.
In the top of comments list, you might find comments from the video's creator itself, which will be followed by popular personalities and from people in the video's creator in the Google+ Circles. The idea is to create a well engaged commentary.
However, users will still be able to toggle between the "Top Comment" to "Newest First".
At the heart of the entire change lies Google+ because to post comment on videos on YouTube, viewers will need to be on Google+ and they will have to link their Google+ profiles or page with the YouTube account. However, this is not the first time Google has encouraged users to link their Google+ profiles to YouTube accounts.
"Let's say you're enjoying Lindsey Stirling or Epic Rap Battles' latest video and want to join in the conversation," YouTube wrote in its blog post. "Would you rather see comments from people you care about (including Lindsey or ERB themselves), or just whoever in the world was last to post?"
The new comment system has been made in collaboration with Google+ teams. They consider three main factors to determine the relevancy of comments. These are commenter reputation, community engagement by a particular commenter and up-votes for a particular comment.
The completely revamped commenting system also provide several new tools for comment moderation. The update will allow uploaders and channel owners to review comments before they are live. They can also blacklist certain words in a particular comments. Apart from this, they have to ability to whitelist specific commenters so next time when they post a comment, they get automatically approved.
