You might be under the impression that LEGO Marvel's Avengers only features characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but that is far from the case. While it does feature many of the movie versions of heroes like Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and more, the game is also filled to the brim with comic book superheroes and villains both new and old from across Marvel's long publishing history.
One group of comic heroes that are available to unlock in-game are the Young Avengers. Comprised of Wiccan, Speed, Kate Bishop, Hulkling and America Chavez, the Young Avengers are a team of adolescent heroes who all have ties to some of the big name characters most people are familiar with, like Hulk, Captain America and Hawkeye.
Though these characters won't likely make their big screen debuts anytime soon, it's still cool to play as them in LEGO Marvel's Avengers. This guide will help you locate each of the five heroes, but it's going to take some work. Unlocking and playing as each of them will score you an achievement if you're on Xbox and a Trophy if you're on PlayStation to boot. Some of these characters can be found in the hub area of New York City, but you're going to have to replay a story mission and travel to a few other locations to snag each team member.
Since LEGO Marvel's Avengers doesn't have a real map, only a mini-map, relaying the exact location of these characters can be tricky. We'll be using the general areas these characters are located in to try and point you in the right direction. Always keep an eye on your mini-map when hunting for characters, as their face will appear on the map when close. It's also a good idea to use a character who can fly, as this will allow you to cover ground quickly.
America Chavez
You'll find America Chavez in the Avengers Assemble level, on the freeway towards the end of the level. If you're playing on Free Play mode, start at checkpoint C and make sure you bring Hawkeye. Fight your way to the Firetruck and shoot the glass with Hawkeye's sonic arrow to cause the character unlock token to fall from the truck. Pick it up and then proceed to Save and Exit level. You'll still need to purchase her through to character unlock store.
Hulkling
Hulkling will be hanging out with his friend Wiccan in the Sokovia hub area. Seems Wiccan's summoning spell has gone wrong, and the two heroes need help defeating a corrupted hero. Complete the side quest to unlock Hulkling in the character unlock store.
Kate Bishop (Hawkeye)
For this character you're going to need Loki. If you haven't purchased his Avengers costume, you can also gain a free Loki by completing the Lost in the Aether level from Thor: The Dark World. Travel to the Burton farm hub area and climb or fly to the top of the farmhouse. Smash the pipes near the chimney to reveal water puddles. You'll then use Loki's special ability to freeze the puddles. Once that's done, the unlock token for the Kate Bishop version of Hawkeye will appear. You'll still have to purchase her at the character unlock screen.
Speed
To unlock speed, you'll have to do a couple of missions for Lou Ferrigno first. You'll find the first in the Financial District and the second in Central Park. Once those are done, Lou Ferrigno will appear once again, this time around Times Square. He'll need you to pick up some of his shirts for him. When you've finished, Speed will be unlocked for purchase.
Wiccan
You'll find this spellslinger in New York City's forest area. He's in a cave with his pal Hulkling, under a hilltop with a billboard on top. Seems some Dark Elves have mistaken Wiccan in his Asgardian costume for Thor, so the two friends need your help holding them off. Once you're finished, Wiccan will be available for purchase in the character unlock store.
