Bandai Namco released new screenshots that reveal more details about the highly anticipated action role-playing game Dark Souls III.
The screenshots introduce players to a brand-new boss named Iudex Gundyr, along with other new characters, armor and a new area. The images also showcase the dark and gloomy atmosphere, as well as the impressive graphics.
Along with the images, the video game publisher also released a description to provide more details about what is occurring in the photos. It's believed that most of the screenshots were taken from the beginning of the game.
The description is as follows:
As they begin the game, players will find themselves revived in the Untended Graves as an "Unkindled" and will have to face the mighty Iudex Gundyr as a test to prove their worth before heading into Firelink Shrine.
In the shrine they will find a Fire Keeper tending to a bonfire who will serve players on their long and arduous journey. Players will find other characters inhabiting the shrine including Hawkwood, an Unkindled and fugitive from Farron's Undead Legion, along with a peculiar looking man sitting on one of the thrones in the shrine calling himself Ludleth of Courland and a Lord of Cinder
From Firelink Shrine players will begin a dark and brooding fantasy adventure across the vast and twisted world of Dark Souls III.
Titiled "Unkindled Sorcerer in Untended Graves," the screenshot reveals the path the Unkindled (which appears to be a new denomination) travels on the way to the Firelink Shrine.
The next image called "Iudex Gundyr battles player to test their worth" showcases the new boss that has a long weapon, and a full body of armor, including a mask.
"Dark mass exploding from Iudex Gundyr" shows what happens to the new boss after defeating him in order to reach the Firelink Shrine.
"Mercenary overlooking Firelink Shrine" then reveals the location across the cliff. It is not yet known whether or not this Firelink Shrine will be the same as featured in the original title in the series.
The image "Hawkwood fugitive from Farron's Undead Legion" reveals a character in reflection in a dark place among candlelight.
"Pyromancer in the Cathedral" showcases an action scene with enemies crawling toward the character.
The next image titled "Fire Keeper in Firelink Shrine" shows the female character with something over her eyes, similar to the Maiden in Black.
Finally, "Rasing flag below High Wall of Lothric" reveals what seems to be a moment of victory, perhaps after the Firelink Shrine.
Bandai Namco also reveled concept art from the game, including: "Cleric on a journey," "Dirty beast known to dig up souls from underneath the swamp," "Library sage covered in wax held captive by a demon," "Odd-looking man calling himself Ludleth of Courland and Lord of Cinder," and "Old ruin high above the clouds." Dark Souls III is set to be released April 12 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
