Sony Drops Cool New 'Angry Birds Movie' Trailer: Why So Angry? [Video]

Since the dawn of man, Hollywood has failed to capitalize on movies based on video games. Many studios have tried and failed, and now Sony is attempting to make a success story out of Angry Birds, ultimately opening the floodgates.

Many folks wondered how a storyline would fit into the world of Angry Birds. Well, it seems the writers have come up with something that could work if done right. Basically, the birds were all happy except for one. The pigs then came along and as expected, they became transfixed with the eggs, so we're guessing they'll steal some and ultimately make the Angry Birds angry.

The "Angry Birds Movie" is not the only video game-based film in the works. Assassin's Creed and Warcraft are other adaptations in development. The weight of the video game industry rests on these films, so at least one of them needs to become a hit.

That being said, there's a new "Angry Birds Movie" trailer out today and it's better than the previous stuff we've seen. It wasn't good enough to get us excited, but there were parts where we laughed.

For instance, that last scene where the eagle sees two birds happily drinking from the water he peed in was quite funny. The joke shot home when the two birds were seen with disgusted looks on their faces after realizing what they just drank.

If the writers can bring forth quality comedy such as this small scene throughout the whole movie, then we should be in for a blast and perhaps even multiple sequels.

But hey, don't hold your breath because movies based on video games seem to have a curse attached to them. "Mortal Kombat" failed, and so did "Resident Evil," spawning a plethora of bad movies. Because of this, we have little hope of "Angry Birds Movie" succeeding, but we still want to be proven wrong.

The "Angry Birds Movie" will hit theaters in the summer of 2016. Until then, check out the trailer below to get a glimpse of what's to come.
