Jaguar has confirmed that the F-Type SVR will launch at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show starting early March this year. The carmaker has also released a few official images of the vehicle.
The British carmaker has not revealed more details regarding the F-Type SVR but has confirmed that the car will be able to achieve speeds of 320 km/h, or 200 mph.
"The new F-TYPE SVR is the first series production Jaguar to be developed by Special Vehicle Operations and benefits from everything we know about precision engineering, performance and design," says John Edwards, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations. "The result is a 200mph, all-weather supercar that you can drive every day - we even made a Convertible version so that enthusiasts can revel in the sound from the new titanium exhaust system."
The Jaguar F-Type SVR will be produced by the company's Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations department, making it the first series production car manufactured by the exclusive division.
A leaked brochure of the car suggests that it will have a 5.0-liter V8 engine which will produce 567 horsepoer and 424 pound-feet of torque. The all-wheel car will have eight-speed automatic transmission. The F-Type SVR will be capable to go from 0 to 62 mph, in just 3.7 seconds, a 0.4-second improvement from the AWD F-Type R.
The upcoming car is expected to be lightweight. Thanks to the carbon ceramic brakes system weighing 21kg less than the standard car's items. The titanium exhaust will also be lightweight, saving 12kg from the weight of the car. Unlike the F-Type R, the forged aluminium wheels also save 10kg. The wheels of the car will be lighter and wider, making room for bigger tires and improved control.
The images of the car suggest that it will have large air inlet panels, which will improve brake and engine cooling. The images also suggest that the F-Type SVR will be available in both convertible and coupe models.
Despite being a high-performance car, the F-Type SVR is expected to retain most of the luxury features found in the other F-Type models. The interiors, including the steering wheel and the seats, will be sportier. The inside of the car will also get some aluminum trim to give a premium feel to the occupants.
The F-Type SVR is expected to bear a price tag of £100k, or about $142k. The car will go up for sale in summer 2016. Jaguar will release full technical specifications, prices, images and a video of the car on Feb. 17.
