Silicon Valley startup WeFuel is offering on-demand gasoline refills to people living in the Palo Alto and Menlo Park areas who may not have the time or the patience to drive downtown just to have their cars refueled.
All customers have to do is to download the WeFuel app, type in the location of their vehicle and request for a fuel delivery.
"Using the WeFuel iOS app, (an Android version will be available in the spring), users select their choice of fuel and choose their payment option, and a professional WeFuel delivery truck will arrive within a half hour or less to fill their vehicle," the company said.
WeFuel's main selling point centers on the idea that its service is not only more convenient and less time-consuming than having to take cars to a gas station, but it's also much safer as well.
Once a request for fuel delivery has been made, customers can expect one of WeFuel's gas trucks to arrive at the specified location within 30 minutes. A hazmat-certified technician would then proceed to open the customer's gas tank and fill the car with either regular or premium unleaded gasoline.
As safety precaution, the WeFuel technician would have to ready a fire extinguisher nearby before he starts the refueling. Vehicles under a covered space are also required to be moved to an open area before the delivery can take place.
The price for a WeFuel gas delivery is $7.49 for every fillup plus the price per gallon of the fuel. Fuel costs are calculated by the company daily according to the current gas prices of a particular zip code, with GasBuddy serving as one of its data sources.
WeFuel is also planning to offer monthly subscription to customers for unlimited refills. This would cost about $19.99 a month for every vehicle, plus the cost of fuel per gallon.
As of the moment, the WeFuel gas delivery service is only available to customers in Palo Alto and Menlo Park, but the company said it will soon be made available to residents across the Bay Area by the end of the year.
