The LG G5 will be unveiled next month, and a new source has provided images that confirm its new design and other features. A third-party case maker has posted images of their protective case, which shows the G5's rear fingerprint scanner and relocated power and volume buttons.
LG is planning to launch its 2016 flagship smartphone on Feb. 21, which also happens to be the same day Samsung will introduce the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. Details regarding the LG G5 have been making headlines in the last few weeks, and most recently, we reported that a diagram for the smartphone was published online showing the handset's redesign, button placements and dimensions.
The diagram lined up with a previous report that claimed LG was planning to give the smartphone a redesign with an all-metal body and include a modular design that would allow the device to include a user-replaceable battery. Now, a third-party case manufacturer has posted images of the LG G5 inside its case.
The images were published on Mobile Fun and show the ArmourDillo LG G5 protective case. As you can see in the above image, the LG G5's volume buttons have been relocated from the rear of the device to the left side. There is a cutout for the fingerprint scanner, which is located on the back of the device below its updated camera.
The LG G5 is believed to feature a 5.3-inch 2,560 x 1,440 quad-HD display and a secondary ticker display like the one found on the LG V10. The smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 3 GB of RAM. It will ship with 32 GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot to further increase its storage.
The LG G5's camera capabilities are said to consist of a 16-megapixel rear camera with a dual-lens configuration, laser autofocus and dual-LED flash, as well as a 7-megapixel front-facing snapper for selfies and video chat. The smartphone is believed to ship with a 2,800 mAh removable battery.
While the images appear to be legit, it's always best to take leaked images with a grain of salt. We'll be sure to give you an update on any new LG G5 information as it comes out.
