Here's The First Preview Of 'Power Man And Iron Fist' #1

Last year, Marvel Comics announced that Power Man and Iron Fist would team up again for a new ongoing comic book series.

That comic book series premieres next month, and Marvel just released a first look at some of the first issue's main cover art, variant cover art and inside pages.

"The years may have caused this titanic twosome to drift apart, but when an old friend comes to them in need, the boys are back!" writes Marvel in an email press release. "Old friends, new enemies, hired goons, crime lords, weird magic, plenty of power, a flurry of fists and more bromance than you can handle await inside, True Believer!"

This new ongoing series comes courtesy of writer David Walker (Shaft) with artwork by Sanford Greene (Runaways, Uncanny Avengers).

"I've loved these two characters since before they even teamed up," said Walker in a previous press statement. "When Power Man and Iron Fist first teamed up back in the late 1970s, their title quickly became one of my favorite books, and it was always something I fantasized about writing. Seeing them back together is like being reunited with your oldest friends."

Marvel first brought Power Man and Iron Fist together in the 1970s, eventually followed by the Heroes For Hire series in the 1990s. Marvel revived the duo in 2011, but that was only a brief reunion.

It's no surprise that Marvel decided to bring the team back together, especially now that Netflix has plans to give both characters their own live-action series. Jessica Jones, which featured Luke Cage (aka Iron Fist), also recently got a second season approved. Eventually, all of Netflix's Marvel heroes will unite for a Defenders series.

Marvel comic book fans can expect some familiar faces to turn up in the new comic, too.

"David and Sanford are both extremely well-versed in the background of these characters, the world they're from, but they're also bringing their own style to this," said series editor Jacob Thomas to FastCompany. Readers also will see some familiar Marvel characters, like Tombstone and Black Mariah.

Power Man and Iron Fist #1 hits comic book shelves on Feb. 17.
