After much anticipation, the 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR is launching and with it much fanfare for what the British automaker is offering with its latest model.
It is the most powerful, fastest Land Rover to ever hit the market and already has many auto aficionados salivating to get behind the wheel for a test drive.
It is the first volume-production model from Jaguar Land Rover's special vehicle operations unit and delivers what Jaguar often does with its luxury sedans. Now, by adding the specifications that make a Jaguar special, Land Rover is getting an upgrade of pure quality.
According to the company, the Rover Sport SVR comes fully equipped with a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that pushes 550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque. It also has four-wheel drive for greater handling.
One report says the vehicle can get to 60 miles per hour from a parked position in around 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 162 mph, although most drivers likely aren't going to get to that level.
Not to let the interior slide as the upgraded engine gets to work, the Rover Sport has high-end Oxford leather and an aluminum trim -- carbon fiber is an optional upgrade -- that gives the cabin a luxurious feel.
The vehicle also features a new suite of technologies that will allow it to fulfill secondary tasks, letting the driver focus more on the road and minimize driver distractions, Tech Times reports. It's self-learning program is smart enough to recognize different people behind the wheel and personal driving preferences, even temperature preferences. Its Smart Assistant even acts like a personal secretary and can review the driver's diary and send reminders or alerts.
Wolfgang Epple, the Jaguar Land Rover unit's director of research and technology, said, "Up until now, most self-learning car research has only focused on traffic or navigation prediction. We want to take this a significant step further and our new learning algorithm means information learnt about you will deliver a completely personalized driving experience and enhance driving pleasure."
Add that to the power and speed of the Rover Sport, and it should be a top seller among the more affluent.
