BMW Series 4 Convertible to hit US early next year: Specs, features revealed

German car maker BMW has revealed specifications and features of the Series 4 Convertible, which will debut in the U.S. early next year.

The company has unveiled some basic information for the folding-roof version of the Series 4 Convertible. The new car will be larger in width and longer in the wheelbase when compared to the E93 variants of Series 3. The new model will have pmore headroom and rear-seat legroom than its predecessor.

BMW confirms that at launch the Series 4 Convertible will be available in two petrol engines (428i and 435i) and one diesel engine (420d).

The 428i model will feature the company's TwinPower Turbo 2.0-liter inline four and the 435i variant will have the TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter inline six. Both the models will feature a standard 8-speed sport automatic transmission.

BMW will offer the 428i Convertible with a choice of rear-wheel drive or with its intelligent all-wheel drive system, xDrive. On the other hand, the 435i Convertible will be available at launch with rear wheel drive only.

The BMW 428i Convertible will have a starting price of $49,675 and the 435i Convertible will have base price of $55,825. The prices for both the models include $925 destination and handling fees. The new BMW Convertibles will arrive at the U.S showrooms in Q1 2014.

The BMW press information suggests that the new car will come with a three-piece retractable hardtop roof with a built-in noise-absorbing headliner. The roof of the car can be raised within the luggage compartment.

The car also features an automatic climate control function to keep occupants comfortable on the move. BMW has also designed the electrically-adjustable seats with integrated seatbelts. The car maker will also offer neck warmers with the standard seats as well as with the optional sports seats featuring recessed headrests.

Just like the Series 3, the Series 4 Convertible will also be available in three equipment lines: Sport, Modern and Luxury lines, which will allow personalized look and feel to the car and at the same time, suiting individual tastes and preferences.
