Resident Evil has always had a thing for giant animals. In the first game, you had bosses like Yawn, and enemies like the giant spiders. Capcom turned things up with Resident Evil 2, which features both a giant alligator and oversized moths among others. As the series went on and on, more and more animals were added to Umbrella's mutated roster - and Resident Evil 0 continues the franchise's legacy.
Of course, giant animals - especially creepy crawly ones - make for great boss fights. Nobody likes bugs, but that just makes stomping them that much more satisfying. That's clearly what Capcom was going for with Resident Evil 0's second boss fight against the Centurion: centipedes are bad enough already, but a 20-foot-long bug is just asking to die.
As tempting as it may be, this isn't the sort of fight you want to rush into - the battle against the Centurion centipede requires some preparation to take down quickly. Thankfully, that's what this guide is for - if you've been having trouble with Resident Evil 0's second boss fight, look no further.
You'll stumble onto the Centurion's lair after making your way across the rooftop of the Umbrella Training Facility - thankfully, unlike the Giant Scorpion, the boss fight isn't triggered just by entering the room. Instead of starting the room's cage puzzle right away, head to the other side of the room - there's a staircase that leads back down to the facility's second floor, and opens up a shortcut back to the Main Hall (and an easy-to-use save point).
Once you've saved your game, drop everything that isn't a weapon or health pick-up, then give it all to Billy. The only exception should be the grenade launcher: if you picked it up earlier, make sure to stash it at the save point. The Centurion should be easy enough to fight without it, and it'll come in handy later.
As soon as Billy's armed to the teeth, head back up into the room with the crank, and switch to Billy. Turn the crank, switch back to Rebecca, and grab the key from under the cage - after that, it's time to play pest control.
If you can stay out of the Centurion's way, you'll beat it without taking a single hit.
No, really - the boss doesn't actually do much of anything. Equip the shotgun and go to town, then switch to the handgun and finish it off - you don't even have to worry about hitting Rebecca. The only thing the Centurion will do to hurt Billy is run him over, but the monster doesn't move all that quickly - just make sure not to stand in front of it (or too closely in general), and it'll be dead in no time.
Really, it's all about knowing who to give the guns to - once that's done, the fight itself is a cakewalk!
