Iron Maiden Announces Plans To Unleash 'Legacy Of The Beast' RPG Mobile Game

Get ready to rock, gamers. The English heavy metal band Iron Maiden announced alongside developer Roadhouse Interactive and 50cc Games its plans to unleash the mobile RPG game titled Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast this summer.

Legacy of the Beast, which will be available for iOS and Android, will be a free-to-play, RPG title that is packed with action and features Iron Maiden mythology.

The player will take on the role of the band's mascot Eddie (who has appeared on many album covers and makes appearances at live shows), who will appear in many forms with unique abilities, as they explore new worlds, time travel, and battle characters from the band's albums and art.

The soundtrack of the mobile game will feature Iron Maiden songs from throughout the band's career, as well as previously unheard live recordings of some classics that are adapted for the game by engineer Tony Newton and supervised by Iron Maiden founding member and bassist Steve Harris.

"We always thought Maiden's music and imagery with Eddie could be perfect for gaming and it's something we have been looking at doing again since Ed Hunter in 1999," Harris said in a press release. "Now in 2016 it can all be done on a smartphone, which makes it even more accessible for all our fans and also all the gamers out there."

Iron Maiden was founded in 1975, and reached success in the '80s thanks to its popular albums The Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind and Powerslave. The band has released a total of 38 albums, including studio albums, live albums, EPs and compilations, with its 2010 studio album The Final Frontier reaching the No. 1 spot in 28 countries.

The game was developed in collaboration with the band's management, and adds to Roadhouse Interactive's resume that includes action games including Warhammer 40,000: Carnage and Food Battle: The Game.

Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast will hit the app stores later this year.
