Does This Spider-Man Hoodie Reveal Spidey's 'Captain America: Civil War' Look?

Images of upcoming Captain America: Civil War merchandise hit the web last week, and nestled among the Team Cap and Team Stark t-shirts is a hoodie that just might spoil a major reveal in the film.

Spider-Man is set to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the upcoming movie, but nobody knows what Spidey's new suit will look like (if he even appears in a suit at all). This Spider-Man hoodie may be the first clue as to what viewers can expect. Is it, in fact, based on the new Spider-Man costume?

The creator of the merchandise say they don't have a clue.

"There's been lots of talk online and people have been really excited that this could be what reveals the new look Spider-man," says Merchoid community manager Jessica Adams (via Comingsoon.net). "However, Marvel is doing a fantastic job of keeping the new Spider-man costume under wraps, so we haven't yet seen it! What we can say is this hoodie was designed in partnership with Marvel, who provided all the design elements from their 2016 merchandise range, including the ‘messy' webbing, which we haven't yet seen in any prior Spider-man costume."

There are a couple of key notes to make about the costume and what it could mean for Spidey's big reveal. The first is that the color scheme of the hoodie looks to be a little darker than what fans might be used to. As pointed out by Merchoid, the "messy webbing" design would also be a first for a Spider-Man costume, which is normally covered in a very systematic web pattern. The emblem itself is also a key departure from Spider-Man costumes of old. The two previous film incarnations of the hero sported spider logo's that looked much sharper and more sinister in design, like that of an actual spider.

This logo emblazoned on the hoodie is more rounded, a throwback to older Spider-Man costumes from the comics. What that means (if anything) for Spider-Man's Marvel Cinematic Universe look is unclear, but it's obvious that Marvel is trying to return the character to his roots as a teen hero struggling to balance his social life and heroics.

We'll have to wait until May to learn if this hoodie is an accurate representation of what to expect, but if it is modeled off the new Spider-Man costume, it looks like Marvel is trying to blend looks both old and new to create a fresh appearance for Peter Parker's latest film appearance.
