Xiaomi Redmi 3, Watch Out: Meet Lenovo's Lemon 3, Aggressively Priced At $105

The new Lemon 3 smartphone from Lenovo makes an interesting addition to the growing mid-range smartphone market and it comes at an aggressive price point.

What makes it even more worthy of everyone's attention is the fact that the new Lenovo smartphone has the same powerful specs as the freshly launched Redmi 3 from Xiaomi.

Both devices have a 5-inch display, a Snapdragon chip, a RAM of 2 GB and an internal storage of 16 GB. Even the cameras between the two devices are identical. Just like the Redmi 3, the new Lemon 3 is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel selfie camera.

Lenovo listed the Lemon 3 smartphone under the $105 price tag. The Redmi 3 price comes along the same lines.

However, there are certain unique features between the two that may somehow influence the buying decision of consumers.

One of these unique features is the battery. While the Lemon 3 is built with a decent 2,750 mAh battery, it's certainly no match compared to the massive 4,100 mAh battery size of the Redmi 3.

On the other hand, though both phones share the same display size (5 inches), the Lemon 3 boasts a higher resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels compared to the Redmi 3's HD pixel resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels.

Other notable highlights of the newly launched Lemon 3 include dual SIM capability, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3G, 4G, Ambient Light sensor, Proximity sensor and Android 5.1.

Weighing a mere 0.31 pound, the Lemon 3 measures 5.6 x 2.8 x 0.31 inches. The device comes in two color options – Silver and Gold.

Lenovo has no word yet on when the Lemon 3 will be available outside of China. Similarly, Xiaomi announced that the Redmi 3 will be initially available to customers in China, while a global launch of the device is yet to be determined.

As both devices will be initially available in China, customers from other regions will have plenty of time to make up their minds between the two handsets.

With similar specs and pricing, it all depends now on what type of feature really matters to a potential customer. If a powerful battery is one's priority, then the Redmi3 will be the better choice. If a good resolution is the bigger concern, the Lemon 3 certainly lives up to that expectation.
