'Supergirl' Goes Up Against Toyman In New Trailer For Next Week's Episode

Supergirl has faced some tough foes during her first season on the CBS hit series, but will the next villain be the most difficult she's faced yet?

Could Toyman prove a more worthy opponent for Supergirl than even her aunt Astra and uncle Non? Toyman isn't as strong as the Kryptonians, but he's got something else in his arsenal of weapons: he's also the father of Winn, one of Kara's best friends.

Will that make things difficult for Kara when she goes after the villain? A new trailer to promote next week's episode shows how Toyman plans on shaking up National City and how Kara finally faces him.

In this clip, it's obvious that there's no love lost between Winn and his father, but Winn still seems concerned when he's informed that his father recently broke out of jail.

Here is the official description for the episode, "Childish Things":

"Kara does her best to support Winn when his father, the supervillain Toyman, breaks out of prison and seeks out his son for unknown reasons. Also, Cat offers Lucy a job at CatCo and Alex asks Hank to use his powers to help uncover Maxwell Lord's plans."

Meanwhile, CBS recently cast Smallville's former Supergirl, Laura Vandervoort, in a role on the series as a villain known as Indigo, a character described by the show as a living supercomputer that turned against the Kryptonians. That makes Vandervoort the third Supergirl to appear on the series, alongside series star Melissa Benoist. Helen Slater, who portrayed the character in the 1984 film, also appears on the show as Kara's adopted mother. Then, there's Dean Cain, a former Superman from TV series Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, who portrays Kara's deceased adopted father.

Also expect a Bizarro version of Supergirl this season, a twisted version of Kara intent upon destroying National City's superhero. However, Bizarro Girl won't be Kara's double (CBS cast actress Lauren Hope in the role).

Meanwhile, fans of both CBS' Supergirl and The CW's The Flash fans still hope that there's a chance that the two series can do a crossover episode (although it's still not likely, given the legalities involved as each show airs on a different network).

Supergirl airs on CBS on Monday nights.
