‘DC Universe Online’ Is Heading To Xbox One: Here’s What You Need To Know

Daybreak Game Company, the video game developer and publisher that's formerly known as Sony Online Entertainment, is going to release DC Universe Online to the Xbox One, making it the company's first game outside the PS3, PS4 and PC.

It's worth mentioning that the game is already five years old and that only a couple of MMORPG games are able to reach that age. The recent development is in light of the game's achievement and fifth birthday, where Daybreak Game Company announced the big news via a Kinda Funny livestream and Twitter.

As everyone can see, the current details are still pretty sparse, which is expected considering how recent the announcement still is. Luckily, the developers unveiled an official release date, though, and they did mention that players probably won't be able to carry over their progress from other platforms.

DC Universe Online isn't exactly the hottest game out there, so it's impressive how it has lasted for five years with the developer pushing out a major update like this.

For interested players who don't have a clue about the DC Comics MMORPG yet, now is a good time to brush up on what it can bring to the table.

It's Free To Play

First and foremost, DC Universe Online started to become free back on Nov. 1, 2011. In other words, there's nothing to lose in giving the game a shot. In fact, there's probably a lot to gain from it instead.

Developers Are Still Active

Thinking that the game is waning at this point is an easy mistake to make, but that's not the case with DC Universe Online. As mentioned earlier, the developers held two news-filled livestreams while giving away a lot of goodies to viewers.

"Happy 5th Anniversary, DCUO! January 11, 2011, still seems like just yesterday to a lot of us, but come Monday DCUO will be celebrating the big fifth birthday as a live game. Make sure you log into the game to celebrate (and claim your anniversary gifts!)," Daybreak Game Company said.

It's a safe bet to assume that they will continually update the game.

Level 30 Is When The Real Game Starts

At the beginning, everything seems pretty simple, where players will just have to grind until they become strong enough. Once they hit level 30, however, they will learn that they need to know every nitty-gritty detail of their characters – the power set and role they chose – to keep up with the suddenly difficult game.

Meanwhile, Daybreak Game Company's decision to launch DC Universe Online on the Xbox One is not surprising, as the company has expressed plans of expanding to the platform back in 2015.
