If this is the end of Sting's career, at least he can say that he wrestled for World Wrestling Entertainment and is a soon-to-be WWE Hall of Famer.
On Monday, on the eve of WrestleMania 32 on April 2, the company announced the Icon will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of its 2016 class.
"We are truly honored to have Sting take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame," WWE's Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative, Paul Levesque, aka Triple H, said in a statement on WWE.com. "His contributions to our industry are unprecedented, and we look forward to celebrating his incredible career with fans all over the world."
This announcement comes on the heels of Sting still trying to figure out his status and whether he'll be able to ever wrestle another match again following a costly neck injury suffered in a September 2015 Night of Champions pay-per-view match against Seth Rollins. The latest on that neck injury last month was that he'd need surgery to fix the problem.
Whether or not he ever wrestles again, however, has little to do with what he has already accomplished in the ring, from teaming up with the Ultimate Warrior to feuding with everyone from Ric Flair to the New World Order, at two very different heights of World Championship Wrestling.
There's no doubt Sting is deserving of the honor. Now, the questions are: will he ever wrestle again, and who will join him in the 2016 Hall of Fame class?
