Vintage Star Wars toys can be big business. With the franchise as popular as ever, many of the original toys created by Kenner are worth way more than what folks paid for them back in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
However, there is one figure that takes the cake: the 1979 rocket-firing Boba Fett prototype figure from Kenner.
To call the figure rare is an understatement. It was only a prototype, and one that never went into production. The figure was seen only once at the 1979 Toy Fair in New York City and recently appeared on an episode of History Channel's hit show Pawn Stars in an episode titled "The Pawn Awakens."
Now, it's on eBay for $150,000. So far, nobody has bid on the rare toy, but the seller can't seem to overstate just how valuable this Boba Fett figure is.
"Hello Star Wars Fans and Collectors, Offered here is a VERY RARE Original ONE OF A KIND Vintage CARDED Kenner 1979 Star Wars ROCKET FIRING BOBA FETT Unproduced TOY FAIR Sample Prototype Action Figure," the seller, rarestarwarstoys, writes. "This is a Holy Grail Vintage Star Wars item, and is something that really belongs in a museum."
Will it end up in a museum? Probably not. It's hard to say what the chances are of a collector actually shelling out $150,000 for the figure, or if anybody will bid at all, but it's certainly a remarkable piece of Star Wars history. It certainly helps that Boba Fett is one of the most iconic and well-loved characters from the Star Wars saga, too. With the infamous bounty hunter rumored to be getting his own movie in 2020, chances are the value of this one-of-a-kind figure will only continue to go up.
