HBO Announces 'Game of Thrones' Season 6 Premiere Date

Game of Thrones fans already knew that the hit series will be making its return this April, but now, we officially know its premiere date.

Game of Thrones season 6 will premiere on April 24 on HBO.

The wait is almost over, GoT fans! That means we are that much closer to finding out Jon Snow's fate and seeing what else we are in store for this season — especially since author George R.R. Martin revealed that he would not be able to get the next novel in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, titled The Winds of Winter, completed by the release of season 6. This makes the first time the Emmy-award-winning fantasy series has no storyline to go on from the popular books.

Even though we can all get excited that winter is coming on April 24, some fans may have been hoping for an earlier date in April. Interestingly enough, previous seasons of the series have debuted sometime between the end of March and the middle of April.

HBO also announced that the one-hour season premiere of Game of Thrones will be followed by the new season premieres of Silicon Valley and Veep.
